ABOUT TONGKAT ALI

Tongkat Ali is referred to Ali’s walking stick in Malay language. It is also dubbed as “Malaysian Ginseng” and popularly known as “Asian Viagra”. Another folk name of this plant is Longjack. The scientific name of Tongkat Ali is Eurycoma Longifolia.
Tongkat Ali is a flowering plant of the Simaroubaceae family. It is native to the jungles and rainforests of Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Indonesia. Tongkat Ali is grown in Southeast Asia near the equater of the original tropical moist forest in the sandy height, up to 12m, trunk diameter of 8-10cm, and can ages and grows beyond 30cm thick. Almost no bifurcation branches, leaves were long at the top of the umbrella. The roots usually will fork, the deepest into the earth up to 2m.
Tongkat Ali has been greatly noted for its amazing medical values in restoring health, strength and vitality. No doubt the entire plant contains medical value, but the roots have been extensively used as traditional and folk medicine.


PROCESSING OF TONGKAT ALI ROOTS

The roots are collected from the rainforests.
All collected roots are washed and dried until all roots are in dry place.
The roots are washed and dried again to 5% moisture or less.
The dried root are then chipped using specialized equipment packaged into root chip, teabag, and powder extract and ready for consumption.

TRADITIONAL & MODERN CONSUMPTION

There are a few methods to consume Tongkat Ali:
a) Slices / root chips
1) After chipping, wash the root chips with water.
2) Soak 2g of chipped root in 1 liter of water for 1 hour.
3) Boil and cook for 30 minutes - 1 hour.
4) Remove the chipped root and drink.
The juice (tea) may be blended with honey or rock sugar to balance off the bitter taste of Tongkat Ali. You may reboil the root chip and juice for another consumption until the bitter taste has subsided.
b) Tea bag
1) Place a tea bag into a cup of hot water.
2) Let the bag to sit in the cup for 20 minutes and it is ready to be served.
c) Capsules
Swallow the capsule with water.
(Note : The standard dosage is usually 2 grams each intake.)


ACTIVE INGREDIENTS IN TONGKAT ALI

An active ingredient is a substance in a drug or herb that is pharmaceutically active. Some drug / herbs may contain more than 1 active ingredient. Below are the active ingredients found in Tongkat Ali.
• Quassinoids
• Canthin-6-one-alkaloids
• Beta-carbolines
• Tirucallane-type triterpenes
• Squalene derivatives
• Biphenylneolignans
• Superoxide dismutase (SOD)


SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

1. Individual with health conditions and are under medications are advised to consult their physician before consuming Tongkat Ali.
2. Pregnant, nursing women and individuals below 16 should not use this supplement.
3. Do not consume in large quantities in a short period of interval. The standard dosage is considered to be a maximum of 50g of root chips in a day. User should monitor themselves and reduce their dose if these side effects occur. It is better to take smaller amounts in 1 day.


SIDE-EFFECTS

1. On high dose (15g), Tongkat Ali can cause irritability, restlessness, facial flushing, nausea (vomiting), increased body temperature and insomnia. Very high doses (more than 50g chips per day) can lead to heart pounding and sweating.
2. Result may vary depending on age and metabolism. These side effects may usually cause go away after a few days or smaller doses can be consumed until a tolerance is built.
3. Thus, it is important to begin consumption with lower doses (2g). Only to increase dosages if less side effects are noted. Please seek medical attention if symptoms persist.


STORAGE REQUIREMENTS

Keep at cool and dry place protected from direct sunlight. Avoid reach of children.
